JUNGLE VIBES

 WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE.

WE’VE GOT FUN AND GAMES!

We are so excited about our next international retreat to a secluded jungle lodge located just north of Sayulita, Mexico. The jungle that surrounds this heavenly nirvana pulsates with life-giving energy and the sounds of birds, geckos, and monkeys!  Hike 10 minutes down a jungle road down to the sandy Pacific ocean beach where there is surfing, ocean kayaking, and beach jamming. If you bring your hoola hoop or slack line there will be hula hooping and slack lining!  This six night retreat allows you to get away while only taking one week off of work and 2 weekends to get you there and back.  Guaranteed to provide a break from your daily routine, this private location is a short 5 hour flight from Vancouver.

Once we arrive, our carefully planned itinerary allows for the perfect mix of yoga, meditation, free time, massage, adventure, and fine dining. You can imagine this trip as your perfect getaway from the every day.  Of course, you’re free to opt in or out of any of our planned activities, and simply sit back, relax and be still.  Nothing beats the sunshine on your face in the midst of a cold, dark Winter.  Join us for connection, community and inspiration.  We love you!

Getting There

We recommend flying into the Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR), which is in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.  From there, it’s a short 1h drive up the coast on a jungle road that parallels the ocean. We will make this trip together in minibuses, and this will  be be included in the cost of the retreat. The alternative is to rent a car for the week and meet us at Tailwinds, which wold give you the option to explore the spectacular coast throughout the week, and to check out a restaurant or two if you want to (not included in trip). There are many rental car agencies online; Tailwinds recommends www.geckorentcar.com. Please note that it is important to reserve a vehicle in advance, and  that 4×4 vehicles are only necessary in the rainy season (June – October), so you only need two wheel drive.

Accommodation

There is plenty of open air breeze in the palapas where you can hear the sounds of the jungle creatures who thrive nearby. Most rooms accommodate either 2 singles or one king bed, so both couples and singles are welcome*. There is a small, but beautiful pool with breathtaking ocean views.

*accommodation is shared

In March 2009, Tailwind became the first certified sustainable eco-lodge in Mexico. This certification, through Sustainable Travel International, had been a goal for the Tailwind Jungle Lodge since its inception and represents the Jacobi Family’s commitment to natural living and sustainability.  At the Tailwind Jungle Lodge there are three overarching elements that create our vision of sustainability:

  • The health of the natural world;
  • The health of the San Pancho community: culturally and economically;
  • The health of the Tailwind Jungle Lodge and its ability to make low-impact living !realistic, comfortable and cost effective.

Tailwind jungle lodge has created a strong relationship with the local San Pancho community. Over the years the Jacobi Family has hosted special community events in the jungle as well as donated time and money to support sustainable development in this area.

They are proud to be a part of the San Pancho community and work to serve as part of this thriving and developing area of Mexico.  We hope to have a positive effect on surrounding communities by cultivating a presence that is eco-conscious, community-oriented and inclusive of cultural and ethic backgrounds.

Food

Three healthy, local, and tasty vegetarian meals will be provided per day and are included in our itinerary.  There is also room to store a bit of your own food in your rooms with small fridges provided if you like to have your own supply!

We are working with a local Holistic nutritionist who loves to integrate quality whole foods that are tasty, simple, and powerful for healing into the menu.  One dinner outing in San Pacho will not be included in the cost of the trip, however, there will be lots of fun that IS included, and we hope you’ll join us for an outing to the nearby town to explore the area and find good things to eat!  There are many excellent restaurants in San Pancho (10 minute drive), from basic taco stands to fancy four star restaurants. There is also a great little grocery store, farmer’s market and fish market to check out.  We love food and we’re sure you’ll be delighted with the selection and quality of the meals provided.

The Yoga

Susan and Nicola have a combined total of 20 years teaching experience, and have been teaching together at Unity for over seven years.  Their teachings compliment one another and it is obvious because they share many students and friends within their community. With Sue’s background in Five Elements Astrology and Herbalism and Nicola’s Acupuncture and Doctor of Natural Medicine they do an excellent job of presenting the elements from their unique perspectives. They also apply the Five Elements theory to what we do in practice together on and off the mat.  The practices build throughout the week so you will be ready when the time comes for back-bending and inversions and advancing your skills with a few AcroYoga tricks! Gentle yin yoga, meditation, and therapeutic partner work will be mixed in when you need them most. #thistripislegit
